When we heard that a Hunger Games Barbie doll was in the works, it seemed more like an April Fool's joke than a legitimate licensing announcement. But it's all true, as confirmed by this image at Entertainment Weekly. Although Katniss, the headstrong protagonist from the novel series and movie adaptation, is a resourceful, resilient role model for many young girls, her propensity for killing other children in a state-mandated fight to the death seems a bit more suited for a fully-articulated action figure with a spring-loaded crossbow than the Barbie Dream House. The doll is on sale now for $29.95 at BarbieCollector.com, and we look forward to seeing her hunt the less-inspiring Barbies like animals in the imaginations and playsets of children across the nation!
