Storm Clouds Gather In ‘Inhumans Vs X-Men’ #1 [Preview]

Even before it was announced we all knew it was coming, and now the climactic battle between mutants and inhumans is about to erupt in Inhumans vs X-Men #1 by Charles Soule, Jeff Lemire, and Leinil Yu.

We don't see that eruption in this unlettered and only partially colored preview, but it's clearly on its way. Even without dialogue, you can see the tension. The Inhumans are standing awkwardly around Medusa's throne, while a group of X-Men is gathered in an office. Karnak is meditating, Beast and Magneto are arguing, and Ms. Marvel's dog has disappeared off his leash. Disappearing is literally what Lockjaw does, of course, but that leaves the question of why he needed to do it right then, and without taking her along.

Despite the discussions we've seen so far, I'm willing to bet there's more at the heart of this conflict than the harm being caused to mutants by the Terrigen Mists. Coming to blows over a problem that only collaborative science could solve would be a bit much even for Marvel. But to find out what else is bringing this situation to a head, we'll probably have to wait till Inhumans vs X-Men #1 comes out on December 14.
