EVERYONE SHUT UP THE JEM MOVIE HAS CAST THE HOLOGRAMS.

In the latest development from what is unquestionably the single most important news story of all time, the first round of casting has been announced for the upcoming Jem movie, and all four Holograms now have actresses assigned to their parts. Kimber, Shana and Aja will be played by Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau and Hayley Kiyoko, respectively, while the title role of Jerrica Benton, alias Jem, will be played by Aubrey Peeples, who also appeared in SyFy's Sharknado.

This is not a joke. Jem is from Sharknado and Aja was Velma. This movie is officially being made for me, and the rest of you can deal with that.

The announcement was accompanied with the teaser image above, featuring close-up shots of all the Holograms in their pink-haired, face-painted glory, with the #JemTheMovie hashtag that director Jon M. Chu advised fans to use on Tumblr to get in on... well, whatever the fans are supposed to do for a movie that has already cast its four major roles.

While I'm pretty unfamiliar with most of the cast, I have seen Hayley Kiyoko in her role as Velma Dinkley in Cartoon Network's two live-action Scooby-Doo movies (they were basically Scooby-Doo: Year One, in case you haven't seen them). While those films leave quite a bit to be desired, especially for someone who takes talking dog mysteries very, very seriously, she was definitely a bright spot.

It's worth noting that the reveal focused solely on the protagonists -- the Misfits have yet to be revealed, and neither has crooked record executive Eric Raymond, which means I'm still holding out for a phone call from Chu requesting an audition.
