In Legend #4, a group of dogs and cats come upon a human in the post-apocalyptic wasteland, but things don't go as you'd expect. At least not if you haven't been reading this comic.

The human, it seems, isn't truly human at all. He's a zombie-like creature know as a Stenchless. The animals, meanwhile, are intelligent and communicative, strategizing in how to deal with the creature and even using weapons.

This is the world of Legend, a series from Z2 Comics, written by Samuel Sattin, with art by Chris Koehler. With most of humanity gone or infected, our former pets are fighting for the future. "Legend" is the name of the new leader of the Dog Tribe, taking his band on a search for the creature that killed his predecessor.

It's a very different take on an apocalypse story, and that makes it stand out from the pack. Check out the preview below:

LEGEND Paperback Collection (W) Samuel Sattin (A/CA) Chris Koehler

What if a biological terror agent wiped out most of humanity, and our domesticated animals were left in charge? How would our dogs and cats set about ruling and rebuilding the world?

Ransom, the leader of the Dog Tribe, has been murdered by a creature known as the Endark. An English Pointer named Legend reluctantly rises to lead in his place, vowing to kill the monster once and for all.

From acclaimed novelist Samuel Sattin and award-winning illustrator Chris Koehler comes LEGEND, where cat technology rules, dogs partner with hawks, and humans may be the most beastly creatures of all.
