As much as I dug Robert Kirkman's humorous continuation of Mark Millar's Ultimate zombie reveal in "Marvel Zombies" 1 and 2, I feel like the series really found its footing in volumes 3 and 4, when the mechanized Aaron Stack (A.K.A. Machine Man) harnessed the power of his inherent inorganicness to slay the undead.

That's why I was pleased to find out that Marvel's upcoming zombie installment, "Marvel Zombies 5" picks up where the last volume left off, with MM traversing multiple realities to gather tissue samples from pop culture's most archetypical undead in an effort to save his friend.

Written by Fred Van Lente with art by Kano, "MZ5" will be told through an appropriately-numbered five issues beginning in April.
Here's how Van Lente described the series at Marvel.com:

"We've got zombies in the Old West, we've got zombies in Killraven's War of the Worlds, we've got zombies in Camelot," he exclaims. "I like the storytelling challenge of taking a straight-forward genre and twisting it into pretzels. It's also fun to come up with new ways to eviscerate zombies."

There's more to the series, naturally, like an as-yet-unannounced character joining MM on his mission, along with relationship shake-ups that synch up to the greater Marvel U. I admit, though, Marvel had me at "...zombies in the Old West."

See you in April Machine Man.
