‘Mother Panic’ #1 Brings A New Hero To Gotham [Preview]
Mother Panic #1, by Jody Houser and Tommy Lee Edwards, tells the story of an idle Gotham City millionaire who dons a costume to fight crime, but this hero is like nobody we've seen before, if she even is a hero at all!
In fact, the preview opens with Violet Page returning home to Gotham City by plane while thinking about what an awful place this is, which is the exact same way we were introduced to Bruce Wayne in Batman: Year One. But Violet isn't thinking about how she needs to clean up the city; she's contemplating burning it down.
As we see her here, Violet isn't a dedicated crime fighter pretending to be a self-destructive dilettante, like Bruce Wayne was even at that early point. Violet Page appears to actually be a self-destructive dilettante, but one with a tragic backstory and vengeance on her mind. The parallels are obviously intentional, and it'll be interesting to see how they're employed as the book goes on.
Mother Panic #1 is the latest book from Gerard Way's Young Animal imprint at DC, and comes out November 9. It features a backup story by Jim Krueger and Phil Hester. Check out the preview pages below:
