It’s become increasingly clear how NBC’s Powerless has changed shape to pull in more of the DC universe, moving from an insurance company setting, to a direct division of Bruce Wayne’s. Now, the newest footage attaches yet another Batman connection with Alan Tudyk’s character.

As revealed in the new trailer (with a hint of Bat-Signal, for good measure), Powerless has re-written Tudyk’s character Del into Van Wayne, apparent cousin to Bruce. Why Bruce Wayne would have been raised by Alfred if his late parents had any siblings is anyone’s guess, but shh! Shiny Batman references!

Ahead of a February 2 premiere, so reads the synopsis:

In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.

Firefly favorite and Rogue One star Alan Tudyk will play Emily (Vanessa Hudgens)’s superior, while Community alum Danny Pudi will play Teddy, Emily’s best work friend, trusted confidante and office prankster. Christina Kirk will play Jackie, superhero fan and assistant to Tudyk, along with comedian Ron Funches in an new role, and Kate Miccuci and Josh Fadem as Wendy and Marvin Harris.

Time will tell what other changes will emerge, but does Powerless seem worth a watch?
