On sale now from BOOM! Studios' all ages kaboom! imprint is Peanuts #1, launching a new monthly comic book series based on the classic and beloved characters created by Charles Schulz. The notion of new Peanuts stories not created by Schulz might seem, well, unseemly to some, but ComicsAlliance readers reacted favorably to our preview of kaboom!'s first offering, the original graphic novel Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown. The new series is staffed with some solid talents like Shane Houghton of Image's delightful Reed Gunther and Jane's World creator Paige Braddock, who is also Creative Director at Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates.

As was the case with Happiness is a Warm Blanket..., Peanuts #1 touches on themes familiar to readers of Schulz's original work -- such as Charlie Brown's unreciprocated devotion to the game of baseball -- and the artwork is obviously in the master cartoonist's style. Schultz's family seems keen on continuing to produce new comics and products based on his venerable creations, and kaboom! seems serious about hiring talented creators to make it happen with no small measure of reverence. Check out the preview below and let us know how successful you think they've been.
