Over the course of his career, Mark Millar has worked alongside some of the best artists in the business on creator-owned projects, and in the process created a lot of valuable franchises that have been optioned by Hollywood. Later this year, another artist and series joins those ranks as Greg Capullo heads to Millarworld for the sci-fi/fantasy series Reborn this October.

Millar and Capullo's collaboration has been in the works --- and been public knowledge --- for a while, but these are the first details we're getting of what it actually is. Announced last night via Deadline, the series follows an eighty-year-old woman named Bonnie Black who passes away and finds herself young once again, in a limbo-like dimension that she must fight through to find her husband, who she lost fourteen years prior.

Millar notes at Deadline that he is already courting producers and studios to take Reborn to Hollywood, just as he has done with Wanted, Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service. The comic is described as fully financed via Millarworld, which suggests that the imprint is taking the next step to become a fully fledged publisher.

Here's the official synopsis:

It's not Heaven. It's not Hell. It's as real and hard as where we live now, but filled with the most amazing fantasy landscapes, jaw-dropping creatures and a battle raging between good and evil. The people she loved are in this world -- her father and her childhood dog -- but oddly, not her husband who had passed over 14 years before. So she sets out to find him. She realizes that she has been reborn as a 25 year-old woman with a sword in her hand and gun of her hip.
