It's confirmed: The soon-to-be-rebooted Spider-Man movie franchise will coming back in 3D. The next film is now slated to enter three dimensions on July 3, 2012, and we're officially excited about the possibility of combining the mind-blowing visuals of "Avatar" with one of our favorite superheroes, and ideally, a stronger script than the James Cameron spectacular. The new Spider-Man film will be directed by Marc Webb and will feature Peter Parker as a high school student once more, as previously announced.

Commenting on the announcement, [Chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution Jeff] Blake said, "Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we're thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D. Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc's fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise."

We're interested to see how the movie adapts superheroic visuals to 3D -- how many times do you think Spidey will shoot his webs directly at the viewer? We're guessing enough to make a pretty good drinking game.
