What You Might Have Missed In Marvel's June 2017 Solicitations
Every month, comic publishers release their solicitation announcements to provide information to readers and retailers on comics that are coming out in three months’ time, but there’s so much information dropped at once that a lot can slip through the cracks. This month in Marvel's June solicitations, there are some big returns of forgotten characters and costumes, a surprising-yet-welcome guest artist worth talking about, and two big debuts of mystery characters in familiar roles.
Marvel TV and Movies 'Different Worlds,' Says Anthony Mackie
Even as Marvel’s Iron Fist finally completed the sequence of Netflix heroes that will bring us The Defenders team-up, certain fans will never give up hope that the four could join the larger collective of cinematic Avengers. Sadly, The Falcon is none-too-keen on such a crossover, as Anthony Mackie dismisses Marvel’s TV heroes as “different universes, different worlds.”

Trailblazer: The Marvel Art of Marie Severin
Marie Severin was a woman in comics in an era when a woman in comics wasn't even considered a thing to be. She got her start as a colorist at EC Comics in 1949, and worked there until they were largely driven out of business by the Comics Code in 1955. Severin wouldn't return to comics until the '60s, where she found a new home at Marvel. For this tribute gallery, I've focused on her pencilling work at Marvel. As a penciler, she's probably best remembered for working on Dr. Strange in Strange Tales, Incredible Hulk, and Namor the Sub-Mariner, but she drew fill-in issues and covers for many, many books.
Punisher is Here to Extract Vengeance on All Your Marvel Hot Toys
It didn't take long for Hot Toys to jump all over the Marvel Netflix license when it was made available. We've already seen Daredevil in sixth-scale form, and now his season two rival, The Punisher, is getting his chance to prove his mettle. At least now you'll be able to set your Netlix heroes against your Marvel Cinematic Heroes, even if Marvel is taking a spectacularly long time to figure out how to make that happen in real life.
What You Might Have Missed In Marvel's May 2017 Solicitations
Every month, comic publishers release their solicitation announcements to provide information to readers and retailers on comics that are coming out in three months’ time, but there’s so much information dropped at once that a lot can slip through the cracks. This month in Marvel's May solicitations there's costume drama for Daredevil and some shocking returns, but a lot of comics just don't seem to be coming back, with little or no notice from Marvel.
Mezco's Toy Fair Teasers Include Batman, Doctor Strange and Popeye
Ahead of Toy Fair 2017, Mezco held a special event for the media showcasing some of its upcoming products. Due to the weather on the east coast, we were unable to attend, but Mezco didn't want everyone to miss out on the sneak peeks offered at the exclusive event. Shortly after it ended, the toy manufacturer posted a number of teaser photos of some One:12 Collective figures coming in 2017 and beyond. While expected Batman and Wolverine toys were nice to see, it's the likes of Popeye and Doctor Strange that have us itching to get our hands on Mezco's planned products.
Vincent D'Onofrio Shoots Down 'Punisher' Appearance as Fisk
Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio has been reasonably clear about Kingpin’s absence from The Defenders, though some have certainly held out hope for Wilson Fisk’s return in Jon Bernthal’s Punisher spinoff, given their past chemistry. Allow D’Onofrio to dash your hopes even further, debunking any suggestion he might show up in the 2017 Daredevil spinoff.
Vincent D'Onofrio Says MCU Kingpin 'Not Going to Happen'
In a world where Rogue One can fold in Star Wars Rebels canon and vice-versa, it can be frustrating for Marvel fans that the movie and TV sides haven’t had any real back-and-forth characters. Someone like Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin would seem like a natural fit, even in passing reference, but the Daredevil star sadly believes “It makes sense not to mix the TV stuff.”
