Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. definitely got Ghost Rider fans hot and bothered with news that the Spirit of Vengeance would blaze through Season 4, albeit as the more modern, four-wheeling Robbie Reyes version. Tonight’s “The Good Samaritan” revealed Reyes’ MCU origin, however, with a surprising cameo from one of the Rider’s previous hosts!

Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ keeps on Ghost Riding Season 4 with a touch of both ‘Doctor Strange’ and ‘Captain America,’ but “Meet the New Boss” keep up the same fiery pace, or feel like bad ‘Supernatural? Find out in our full review of tonight’s latest ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’!

We thought perhaps Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. might wait an episode or two to reveal Ghost Rider in all his fiery glory, but who needs patience in Season 4? The first official photo of Robbie Reyes transformed into the Spirit of Vengeance is here, and it’s … uh, it’s fine.

Well, if we were hoping the addition of Ghost Rider and a 10:00 P.M. time slot would take Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a little darker, the first Season 4 footage will really light your fire. Ghost Rider is out for vengeance in the first footage, even attaching himself as a subtitle for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4.

We’ll insist to the day we die that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. already had a chain-wielding firebrand, but it looks like Ghost Rider is coming to Season 4 after all. Straight from Comic-Con 2016, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. confirms that the Robbie Reyes iteration of Marvel’s hothead will debut in Season 4, as played by Gabriel Luna.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. paid the requisite lip service to Captain America: Civil War by last week’s ante-penultimate hour (also unintentionally eulogizing Agent Carter in the process), but series star Chloe Bennet appears to have had enough of the one-way street. “The Marvel Cinematic Universe loves to pretend that everything is connected, but then they don’t acknowledge our show at all,” Bennet opines in a new interview.
