If you can sense that feeling of excitement, panic and salt in the air, you know San Diego Comic-Con is near. There's just something about this annual gathering of fans, creators, actors and cosplayers that makes the summer that much more special. Oh right, it's all the toys. In addition to being host to all manner of awesome announcements, reveals, teasers and trailers, SDCC is also one of the biggest collectible events of the year. Every company big and small rolls out their best and most limited in the hopes of capturing your attention and those dollar dollar bills, y'all. This year is the seventy-fifth anniversary of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby’s Captain America Comics #1 and to honor one of the nation’s greatest fictional heroes, a bronze statue is being erected in Captain America's honor. The statue will make its debut at San Diego Comic Con later this month, before finding a permanent residence in Steve Rogers’ native Brooklyn at Prospect Park.

Perhaps no TV panel at Comic-Con is ever so anticipated as The Walking Dead, but doubly so for 2016, to gain any insight into Negan’s victim by a first trailer. We’ll find out, as AMC has officially booked The Walking Dead, its Fear-ful companion and Preacher for the big show in San Diego this year.

We’ll remember to pour one out for Agent Carter on the Comic-Con circuit, but it looks like the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have a new friend to play with in San Diego. Marvel has officially confirmed both its flagship ABC drama and Netflix’s Luke Cage are coming to Comic-Con 2016, the first details of which have arrived.

Boom Studios is heading to San Diego Comic Con next month with an impressive roster of exclusive variant covers for titles like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Steven Universe --- with one of the best cover ideas I've seen all year --- and more.
