It’s like a DC-Marvel crossover?

Last we heard, TNT’s M. Night Shyamalan reboot of Tales From the Crypt ran into legal challenges, so we’d know if they’d come far enough for a trailer, right? There’s a mystery afoot in these promos leaked to the web, which feature Shyamalan actively discussing the project, but may otherwise be works of fiction.

We haven’t heard much about M. Night Shyamalan’s proposed TNT reinvention of Tales From the Crypt in some time, and there might be good reason. According to reports, budget and rights complications have thrown a wrench into production, which could affect a 2017 premiere date, if not cancel the series outright.

It’s oft been said of erstwhile breakout director M. Night Shyamalan that the filmmaker had run out of ideas, but his new TNT Tales From the Crypt may never have that problem. The new series has partnered with Wattpad to crowdsource stories and horror trends, even recruiting writers directly to work on the series.

If ever you thought that TNT’s redux of Tales From the Crypt under one-time suspense master M. Night Shyamalan was only a nightmare, have we got a twist for you. Not only has TNT greenlit the new Tales From the Crypt to series, well also have a “newly reinvented” Crypt Keeper to tell them.

We first learned back in January that TNT had in mind to resurrect the classic Tales From the Crypt with M. Night Shyamalan curating new horror stories, though details were few and far between. Now, the Sixth Sense director at least confirms that the classic “Crypt Keeper” character will return, though perhaps not as we remember.

Given the amount of time passed, no one was exactly surprised to hear that TNT’s Teen Titans adaptation Titans was officially shut down, though many wondered if another network might swoop into rescue the DC drama. Perhaps, according to DC creative boss Geoff Johns, who says “we have plans for Titans.”

No one was exactly surprised to learn that TNT had passed on an adaptation of DC’s Teen Titans under writer Akiva Goldsman, given how little the project had moved forward in recent months. That said, what stopped TNT from getting into the increasingly-crowed TV superhero game?

TNT’s proposed Titans TV series, based on the DC Teen Titans of their namesake, has officially hung up the cape. After years in development, the network confirms it has abandoned development of the Akiva Goldsman led series, leaving DC fans to make do with only Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Gotham, Supergirl …

Now that Upfronts 2015 have thoroughly decided the fate of superhero TV over the next few months, from Legends of Tomorrow’s season order to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s spinoff pullback, at least a few comic-adapted series remain in limbo. In particular, TNT’s proposed Titans series seems somewhat stalled, though producers say the pilot may ramp up production this summer.
