If ever you thought that TNT’s redux of Tales From the Crypt under one-time suspense master M. Night Shyamalan was only a nightmare, have we got a twist for you. Not only has TNT greenlit the new Tales From the Crypt to series, well also have a “newly reinvented” Crypt Keeper to tell them.

Greenlit for 10 episodes to air in 2017, the new Tales from the Crypt anthology series will anchor a horror block alongside seasonal anthology Time of Death and new series Creatures. Apart from the “ newly reinvented Crypt Keeper,” says Shyamalan:

I’m really thrilled about the way this horror block is coming together with the addition of Time of Death and Creatures. That such a beloved property like Tales from the Crypt is launching our evening makes it an even more unique and exciting opportunity. Across the board, the level of talent has been very inspiring.

Initially set for a fall 2016 reboot, Tales From the Crypt is best remembered by its seven-season run on HBO in the ‘90s, despite the show’s origins having roots in the 1950s EC comics. From 1989 to 1996, Tales From the Crypt also hosted countless celebrities as both actor and director, among them Michael J. Fox, Tom Hanks, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis.

We’ll hear more as Tales From the Crypt goes into production, but what might the reinvented Crypt Keeper look like?
