Good news for fans of the Teen Titans cartoon: After the success of the shorts on the DC Nation block, Cartoon Network has announced that the half-hour Teen Titans Go! will premiere on April 27.

Like the shorts, the half hour show promises to skew a little more towards comedy than the previous Teen Titans cartoon, which occasionally got pretty dark once Deathstroke (AKA Slade) showed up and tried to murder a bunch of children. But, you know, that tends to happen in teenage superheroics.According to the press release, TTG plans to amp up the cast's personality quirks even more than the original show did, casting Robin as a "power-mad perfectionist" and focusing on stories like "a series of quests and battles to construct the perfect sandwich," which seems like an interesting contrast to the usual DC cartoon style of moving more towards epic, life-or-death struggles. It's also worth noting that the cast of the original cartoon has been reunited for the new version, including Scott Menville as Robin, Hynden Walch as Starfire, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Khary Payton as Cyborg, and Tara Strong, who you might recall from every cartoon ever, as Raven.

The most interesting bit of the press release -- for me, anyway -- was that the series will feature a newly remixed version of Puffy Amiyumi's "Teen Titans Go!" theme song by Mix Master Mike, best known as the DJ for the Beastie Boys (not to be confused with the green kid who turns into animals). Apparently, the Titans have realized what the Beastie Boys already knew: Nobody can do it like Mix Master can.

The show is slated to premiere on Tuesday nights starting April 27 at 7:30, with a rerun during the Saturday morning DC Nation block to go along with this summer's premiere of Beware the Batman.
