Whether or not you agree with all of the specific pairings between character and moral/color alignment, it's hard to deny that Geoff Johns' idea to deputize certain members of the DC Universe as temporary Lanterns in "Blackest Night" is kind of great. But if you're not a fan of that plot development - or if you haven't been reading "Blackest Night" - you might want to move along to the next article, because what lies ahead is all about the Lanterns and their upcoming HeroClix debut.

WizKids has announced a DC HeroClix Blackest Night Starter Game that includes figures, maps, rules and more to allow players to embark upon their own version of the comic book publisher's latest event. Among the figures are the deputized versions of Mera (Red Lantern), Lex Luthor (Orange Lantern), the Scarecrow (Sinestro Corps), Barry Allen (Blue Lantern), Ray Palmer (Indigo Tribe) and Wonder Woman (Star Sapphire). Also included is Hal Jordan, who just so happens to be at the center of the only currently available images from the upcoming HeroClix line. That's a pretty big hand he's got there.

According to WizKids, the HeroClix game arrives in stores on May 12, 2010, so there's plenty of time to catch up on all the issues before playing the game.
