Baby Groot may be in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 for really real reasons that are super important to the plot and not at all as a ploy to sell adorable toys, but that doesn't mean the pint-sized version of the hero can't have it both ways. Though much of merchandising plan for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 remains a secret, we have seen some of the toys we can expect to hit shelves this spring and beyond. Baby Groot may have been absent from those initial reveals, but just ahead of the holiday, NECA is here to assure us Baby Groot won't be forgotten.

This spring, NECA will release another in its life-size figure series, this time returning to the Marvel fold with Baby Groot. The foam figure, which won't have any articulation, will come in at 10" tall, and is based on the actual digital files used to create the toddler tree in the upcoming sequel. NECA's had some success with its life-size line, featuring characters like Harley Quinn, Slimer, and even Rocket Raccoon --- who is pictured below to show a size comparison with Baby Groot.

That the company is turning its eyes to arguably one of 2017's most beloved characters --- yes, already --- isn't all that surprising. What is however, is that Baby Groot here will only cost about $35. Given that I'm exactly the kind of fan who paid $50 for a 1/4 scale potted Groot from Hot Toys, paying less for a figure that's larger and will look just as nice is a good thing. I'm sure he'll fit right in alongside my 12" Galactus, and the other NECA 1/4 scale Avengers I've already got in my collection.

The Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 Life-size Foam Figure Groot is available for pre-order now for $34.99, and is expected to arrive in April 2017.
