12 Days of Christmas, Day 11: Rich Ellis
It's the eleventh day of Christmas at ComicsAlliance, as our 12 Days of Christmas original art series continues. Each day through the 25th, we'll be posting a new illustration from a comics creator at Periscope Studio that reinterprets one of the days of the classic Christmas carol -- and we've only got two days left!
In this, our penultimate moment, artist Rich Ellis brings us an image of eleven pipers piping that works kinda like the Marvel smoking ban in reverse. Noted pipe smokers like Gandalf and Popeye are on the scene, along with professorial types like Beast and oh my God is Sherlock Holmes sharing a hookah with Dr. Strange? Those two need to team up and fight crime in late 19th century England immediately. Man, what I wouldn't give to be a fly on the face of that decapitated Sentinel. This is really one of those pieces where you'll want to click through and see the detail, because there's a whole lot of piping going on.
Rich recently finished inking a Red5 book called "We Kill Monsters" and launched an Etsy store, and when he isn't drawing wizards that shoot smoke dragons out of their faces, he's currently working on "Raven's Gambit," his original heist adventure comic called with Susan Tardif.
