Bluefin and Bandai Reveal New Dragon Ball Z and Gundam Figures For Anime Expo
This upcoming July 4 weekend, there'll be fireworks and hot dogs galore across America. And if you're in Los Angeles, you'll be seeing those amidst a sea of Hatsune Miku wigs and people blaring J-pop from their phones at Anime Expo.
The largest anime con in America --- and easily one of the largest American cons period --- Anime Expo takes place from July 1-4 at the LA Convention Center. Like any good convention, there's a wealth of exclusives. Bluefin has announced its exclusives are Gundam model kits and products --- or "Gunpla" as some call it --- as well as two brand-new figurines of Super Saiyan Goku and Final Form Frieza.
Goku and Frieza are part of a new line from Bandai called Figure-Rise,a sort of hybrid action-figure/model kit that renders both characters super poseable. Goku stands at 6" and comes with interchangeable hand parts, two different kamehameha effect parts and a swappable head to help show Earth's Greatest Hero powering up.
Frieza, meanwhile, stands at 5" and comes with swappable hand parts, two types of energy weapon parts and an even more sinister facial expression.
As to the Gundam stuff, there's a range of models from across the franchise. Not just iconic mechas like the Gundam Wing Zero or the granddaddy of them all, the RX-78-2 Gundam, but stuff like Gundam Barbatos (from the Iron-Blooded Orphans anime currently airing on Toonami). There's also a cute little bear colored the same green as the iconic Zaku mechs from the original Mobile Suit Gundam.
Bluefin will have all these and more as well as Bandai Scouter headsets that come with a free head of Super Saiyan hair. So get ready to raise your power levels, Anime Expo attendees!
