As it turns out, we were hasty in our description of last month's Batman Incorporated #4 as the first proper meeting between Bruce Wayne's Batman and Kate Kane's Batwoman. While the issue did indeed feature both the modern Batwoman and her Golden Age counterpart, Kate Kane and Bruce Wayne don't officially shake hands until this week's Batman Incorporated #5. Written by Grant Morrison with art by Yanick Paquette & Michel Lacombe, the new issue also guest stars Gaucho, the Batman of Argentina, and The Hood, a Batman of the United Kingdom.

Batman Incorporated #5 features the first face-to-face encounter of Bruce Wayne's Batman and Kate Kane's Batwoman. Amusingly, they have crossed paths before, but never in an open or upfront way (insofar as people in masks can do anything in open and upfront way). Batman met Kane in her civilian identity in a story now collected as Batwoman: Elegy, and a disguised Batman investigated the Batwoman in Batwoman #0, going so far as to allow her to beat him up.
