Ed Brisson And Mike Perkins Will Help Danny Rand Find Himself In ‘Iron Fist’
Next year will be the year of the Iron Fist, as Netflix launches its final solo Defenders series of the same name starring Finn Jones, and to capitalize on that, Marvel is launching a new Iron Fist ongoing next March.
Written by Ed Brisson, with art by Mike Perkins, the series sees Danny Rand picking up the pieces after K'un Lun was destroyed, and discovering there's more than he ever knew to the history of the Iron Fist.
In the announcement at The Hollywood Reporter, Brisson notes that he will be building on previous runs on the character as Danny Rand finds himself in a new and unfamiliar place; literally a mysterious mystical island called Liu-Shi.
The writer also reveals that Mike Perkins is creating designs for characters known as The Seven Masters, who may have something to do with the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven introduced in Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction and David Aja's The Immortal Iron Fist.
Interestingly, this isn't the Iron Fist title to be announced this year. The Marvel Now Previews book released earlier this year revealed that Kaare Andrews would be following up his run on Iron Fist: The Living Weapon with a new series titled Iron Fists, alongside artists Afu Chan. That book would co-star the nine-year-old Pei, who inherited the Iron Fist mantle at the end of Andrews' first volume.
Ed Brisson has confirmed on his Twitter account that Iron Fists is still happening, which means that, along with David Walker and Sanford Greene's Power Man and Iron Fist, there will be three ongoing titles starring Danny Rand in 2017. What a time to be alive.
