The deadliest woman in the galaxy is getting her own series from Guardians of the Galaxy movie screenwriter Nicole Perlman and artist Marco Checchetto. Gamora #1 promises insight into how the once-favored daughter of Thanos gained her impressive representation, and why she became a hero instead of the assassin she was raised to be.

I'm not clear on whether the book is entirely set in Gamora's past, or if it tells a current story that reflects on that past. The preview shows her fighting her sister Nebula (who looks exactly like Karen Gillan did in the movie) under the watchful eye of Thanos. That implies it takes place when they were both under his control, even though their character designs had initially made me think different. But whenever the story is set, or how many timelines it interweaves, more insight into Gamora's character is always welcome.
