Superheroes and the ’70s Come Alive on ‘Garfield’ #1 Alternate Covers [Preview]

Yesterday we found out that Jim Davis' Garfield would be coming to monthly comics via Boom! Studios' team of former Garfield and Friends writer Mark Evanier and longtime Garfield penciller Gary Barker. In anticipation of the series' first issue, which will arrive in stores this May, Boom! has provided ComicsAlliance with a first-look at two alternate covers from Garfield #1. The first addresses whether or not Garfield himself would experience any apprehension arriving in the traditionally superhero-dominated direct market. The second cover celebrate's Garfield's original appearance circa 1978, when the lasagne-loving cat debuted. Take a closer look at the alternate covers for Garfield #1 after the cut.
