Every now and then, a crossover idea comes along that's such a no-brainer, such a natural, easy fit, that you start to wonder why you're surprised that it's actually happening. For my money, that's one of the best kinds of surprises, and that's exactly what we're getting today, as Boom Studios has announced an upcoming crossover between Lumberjanes and DC's Gotham Academy.

Written by Chynna Clugston-Flores with art by Rosemary Valero-O'Connell and a cover by Mingjue Chen, the crossover is set for June, and not only will it throw Olive, Maps and the rest of the students of Gotham's most prestigious (and terrifying) private school against the hardcore lady-types of the Miss Quinzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet's Camp, it also marks Boom's first ever inter-company crossover.

As announced by the Village Voice, the crossover is set to run for six issues, and for fans of Gotham Academy, it's another piece of good news for those of us who have been wondering about the book's fate after the events of DC's upcoming Rebirth event. Between a crossover with a critically acclaimed, Eisner-winning title, and the previous announcement of the upcoming Gotham Academy: Second Semester, things are looking up.

If the cover art is anything to go by, the main cast of Lumberjanes --- April, Jo, Molly, Mal and Ripley --- will be represented, along with Olive, Maps, Pomeline Fritch, Colton Rivera and Kyle Mizoguchi from Gotham Academy. This, of course, leaves the question of whether we're going to see any of the older characters involved, and while I'm already planning to get this series, I'm not sure if there's any amount of money I wouldn't pay to see Jen, the Lumberjanes' beleaguered camp counselor, having to deal with Bookworm and Egghead.
