Boom Studios Arrive At Emerald City Comicon With Variant Covers And More
This weekend in Seattle is Emerald City Comicon, and Boom Studios will be there with a bunch of cool stuff you won't be able to get anywhere else. My personal favorite is an exclusive variant cover for Coady and the Creepies #1 by the book's writer, Liz Prince, which features the eponymous band climbing on Seattle's famous Fremont Troll statue. The best con-exclusive variants always have a sense of place, but Boom's bringing more than just that.
They'll have copies of the Over the Garden Wall Limited Edition hardcover, which collects issues #1-4 of the current series by Jim Campbell, Amalia Levari, and Cara McGee. The book has a gorgeous cover design by Kevin Jay Stanton. It's not technically an exclusive, as it will get a wider release on March 22, but you can get it at ECCC before it's available anywhere else.
Boom is also bringing more of those Lumberjanes merit badges, which have always sold out in the past. In addition to ten different embroidered badges, they have a new enamel pin of the Lumberjanes logo. The badges will sell at the con for $5 apiece, the pin for $10, and when they're gone, they're gone.
Boom's other exclusive ECCC variants include a heroic Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern #1 cover by Gabriel Hardman, a moody Grass Kings #1 cover by Tyler Jenkins, a fiery The Power of the Dark Crystal #1 cover by Jeff Stokely, a Jorge Corona cover for The Deep #1 that offers a fun portrait of the book's main cast.
Boom is also bringing their recent books The Official Making of Big Trouble in Little China and The Official Art of Big Trouble in Little China, and both will feature limited edition bookplates autographed by director John Carpenter.
