Gotham has never shied away from hammering home its origins and imagery, and Season 2 seems no different by the first posters. Watch the villains rise (weren’t they already doing that?) with a batty first look at the new FOX season, complete with shots of our new big Gotham big bads.

Clinging to that “Rise of the Villains” tagline (was Season 1 “Rise of Other Stuff”?), our first look at the crisp new Gotham Season 2 key art reminds us that … yep, these are all characters in a show vaguely about Batman. Bruce has a cave now, and Deadpool star Morena Baccarin earned herself a spot in the artwork, though the series seams inexplicably dead-set on keeping Barbara in the mix.

Not only that but The Hollywood Reporter got more up close with its new villains, including James Frain’s Theo Galavan, and his sister Tabitha:

Elsewhere of Gotham Season 2, we know the second run will make series regulars of Drew Powell’s Butch Gilzean, Chris Chalk’s Lucius Fox, Nicholas D’Agosto’s Harvey Dent, and Morena Baccarin’s Dr. Leslie Thompkins. Producers will incorporate such Bat-baddies as Clayface, the Mad Hatter, Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange, Tommy Elliot, and potentially even the Court of Owls, while early episodes will serve as a “pre-embryonic” (sigh) origin story for the Joker.

In addition to Natalie Alyn Lind’s Silver St. Cloud and True Detective star James Frain’s role as sinister philanthropist Theo Galavan, Gotham Season 2 will also feature Michael Chiklis as Captain Nathaniel Barnes, Jessica Lucas as Galavan’s sister (and future Tigress) Tabitha, along with Dustin Ybarra as a homicidal cannibal. Victoria Cartagena and Andrew Stewart-Jones have also been downgraded from their series regular roles of Renee Montoya and Crispus Allen

Gotham Season 2 will return on Mondays this fall, but take a look at the two teasers below while we wait. Will Season 2 prove any more different than its posters would suggest?
