Jennifer Walters barely made it through Civil War II alive, and in Hulk #1 she's dealing with some lingering side effects. As the new ongoing series by Mariko Tamaki and Nico Leon begins, the former She-Hulk is trying to live a quiet, normal life. But as this first look preview reveals, rage is bubbling up inside her, and the monster lurking within her brain and body wants to get out.

It's clear now why this book is called Hulk instead of being a new volume of She-Hulk. For decades, She-Hulk's status quo was being She-Hulk all the time: an upbeat, highly intelligent lawyer who was also gigantic, green, and super-strong. Jennifer Walters and She-Hulk were one in the same.

But in this book, Jen has taken over the usual status quo of her late (for the moment) cousin Bruce Banner: a normal person most of the time, with a huge scary rage-monster always on the verge of coming out. While I'll miss the classic She-Hulk, this is a story I'm definitely interested in reading, especially with Tamaki and Leon at the reigns.

Hulk #1 features variant covers by Pia Guerra and Dale Keown, and comes out December 28.
