Image has confirmed today that it will be returning for another Image Expo this July, which will take place one week before San Diego Comic-Con. Typically the home for a deluge of announcements from a wealth of both billed and surprise guests from the world of comics, the Expos have become a widely anticipated part of the comics calendar --- not least because publisher Eric Stephenson usually offers a keynote speech in which he criticizes everybody else in comics. It's ace.

The most recent Expo took place in January, and saw new books announced from Marjorie Liu, Alex de Campi, Brandon Graham and Emi Lenoxamong many othersLast year the publisher decided to host their Summer Expo just before SDCC, which worked rather well as a limelight-stealing exercise --- which explains why they're doing it again for 2015. It makes far more sense than having to compete with TV and film announcements being made at the con itself (though those too have increasingly seeped out of the confines of San Diego).

The announced guests so far include Robert Kirkman, Tula Lotay, Greg Rucka, and the We Stand on Guard creative team of Brian K Vaughan and Steve Skroce. Image only tease a few of the writers and artists who will be at the event, usually choosing to wow the audience with whichever surprise Marvel or DC talent they've scooped up this time round. Summer's Image Expo will take place on Thursday July 2, at the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts. Tickets are currently on sale here.
