The third story trailer for Injustice 2 has arrived, and instead of giving a broad glance at what's going on in the alternate future of the DCU, this video hones in specifically on Supergirl. She's been front and center for a lot of the promotion around Injustice 2, and based on what we know about the game, it makes perfect sense. This new story trailer just drives home how important having Supergirl arrive after Superman's imprisonment really is for the world of Injustice.

After getting a bit of a look back at Supergirl's escape from Krypton, we see her on Earth with her cousin, who has taken protecting the planet to extremes many heroes don't agree with. That's mostly the reason he was imprisoned at the conclusion of the first game. However, with a new threat looming on the horizon, it looks like it'll be up to Supergirl to remind Kal-El what their legacy should be instead of what Superman has made it.

This trailer does give the first look at the Injustice 2 version of Black Adam, who gets a much deserved design revamp from the first game. He's not in the footage much, but what we do see of him shows he's just as powerful as he was in Injustice, and his new special attack will give everyone an up-close tour of Kahndaq sights. Black Adam being in the game could allude to Captain Marvel also making a showing, but NetherRealm's roster has been full of surprises so Billy Batson might not be around this time. Fingers crossed for a Mary Marvel though either way.

Injustice 2 will be out on May 16 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
