Teased in some earlier gameplay footage, Cheetah has finally gotten an Injustice 2 trailer all her own. The vicious attacks of the melee fighter look absolutely brutal, and her speed and agility will no doubt make her a bonafide threat. It's a shame she and Wonder Woman couldn't stay friends after all these years.

Cheetah makes an interesting addition to the Injustice 2 roster, as we haven't seen too many super-powered melee fighters just yet. It's clear from this trailer and some of the other footage we've seen that Cheetah will be on the villain side of whatever conflict is boiling in Injustice 2. Given her recent prominence in the ongoing Wonder Woman comic, it'll be interesting to see how this more traditional take on Barbara Minerva comes across in this alternate universe.

For the most part, Cheetah takes her aggressions out on characters we've seen introduced already like Wonder Woman, Robin and Deathstroke. However, Cheetah's video does give a clear look at a few new stages, including the new Batcave, Superman's prison, and what looks to be her own African-inspired level. There's even a hint at the Batcave's expanded layout with the Batwing crashing through the subways, dumping Robin out for more punishment.

I'll admit I'm a little disappointed by Cheetah's special attack. The mid-air claw attack looks nice in execution, but lacks the pomp and circumstance of so many of other character specials. The back-breaking finish is straight out of Mortal Kombat as well, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but doesn't do Cheetah any favors in the originality department.

Injustice 2 will be out on May 16 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
