Tony Stark's most trusted partner in life, business and (under Norman Osborn's H.A.M.M.E.R. rule) crime has made her share of sacrifices to sustain the futurist's mental and physical health over the years. Now with Iron Man on the mend, Pepper Potts is set to strike out on her own, resuming her new role as the armored Rescue in a new one-shot from Marvel.

Written by Kelly Sue DeConnick, the one-shot will give readers a broader view of Potts' journey from assistant to armored hero, chronicling her life-changing experiences through Marvel's recent "Siege" event.

"She doesn't have to be support staff anymore, not a plot device, not tied to the train tracks, not doing her part to make exposition less obvious," DeConnick told Marvel.com, "She's stepping into position not only as a heroine, but as a protagonist. That's really interesting to me because it's completely foreign territory for Pepper; it's way out of her comfort zone. Doubt and fear are not emotions with which Pepper's accustomed. Having the opportunity to be with her and sort of metaphorically hold her hand as she makes her way through this particular minefield, creatively, it's a great place to be."

The "Rescue" one-shot follows DeConnick's upcoming take on "Sif," which hits stores in March. While both issues are one-shots, fans probably wouldn't mind seeing the writer on an ongoing. You smell what I'm cookin' here Marvel?
