Kevin Mellon's artwork takes a commando approach to its subject matter in that he goes in with clear paths for his line work, doesn't go anywhere he doesn't need to with pinpoint accuracy, and isn't afraid to lay down a little heavy fire with some well rationed texture and shading in precisely the right places. You've likely seen him before thanks to his work on the metal band The Devil Wears Prada's "Zombie EP" comic, Arcana's "GearHead" or Tim Seeley's series "Hack/Slash." Mellon's non-book-published work is worth getting acquainted with too though.
He's got some brutal versions of Storm, Magik, Jonah Hex and Batwoman posted on his personal blog. Stay there long enough and you may even come across his provocative female version of Boba Fett.

He really makes you feel the power of every pen stroke in whatever he does, and we've scooped up a few choice examples of what he's capable of after the jump. Check 'em out below and let us know if you agree.
