KISS And Vampirella Join Forces To Save Rock And Roll In New Dynamite Crossover
The curiously-odd-but-surprisingly-obvious franchise crossover is all the rage in comics right now, but Dynamite Entertainment might have just set the bar at a new level. This June, Chris Sebela teams with Annapaola Martello for KISS/Vampirella, which sees the iconic vampire hunter teaming up with the legendary rock band for an adventure set slap-bang in the middle of the '70s LA rock 'n' roll scene.
KISS/Vampirella sees the latter living in LA as part of an all-girl rock-group by night and vampire hunter by even later that night. When The Starchild, The Demon, The Spaceman and The Catman arrive in town, they discover that all their peers are selling out, breaking up, or going missing, and the future of rock 'n' roll rests on their shoulders. With a bus driver that dabbles in the occult, and the help of LA's number one monster hunter, KISS seek to unravel a conspiracy that could end rock 'n' roll forever.
In a statement provided by Dynamite, KISS' Gene Simmons spoke about his love of Vampirella and his excitement to team-up with the iconic character:
"I have been in love with Vampirella (who hasn't?), ever since Forry Ackerman created her. I knew Forry, and he spoke fondly of Vampi, almost as if she was real. For a wide-eyed kid who grew up voraciously devouring the pages of Warren publications (including Famous Monsters of Filmland), it's a personal thrill to witness this momentous event in our four-decades-old, proud comic book history. I can't wait to see and read KISS/Vampirella."
