Marvel Comics announced today that it will be relaunching CrossGen as a new comic book imprint in March 2011. Originally an independent publisher created in 1998, CrossGen published a shared universe of comics known as the Sigilverse, and was purchased by Marvel's parent company Disney in 2004 after filing for bankruptcy. Former CrossGen titles Ruse and Sigil will be resurrected as the first two launch titles for the imprint, with Ruse written by Mark Waid -- who previously scripted a number of CrossGen titles, including the original Ruse -- with art by Mico Pierfederici and Sigil written by Mike Carey with art by Leonard Kirk. According to Marvel SVP of Sales and Circulation David Gabriel, all CrossGen titles will be priced at $2.99.

Marvel had previously teased the return of CrossGen at Comic-Con in San Diego this July, with a video that showed the old CrossGen logo erupting into flames, and burning away to reveal an updated logo, which appears on the cover images released today.
