Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ Wanders NYC Barefoot in First Set Photos

Marvel’s Netflix Iron Fist wasn’t kidding around with yesterday’s announcement that Jessica Stroup and Tom Pelphrey had completed the cast, given that series star Finn Jones has already begun principal photography in New York. Meet your pre-Iron Fist Danny Rand, as the character returns from K’un Lun, and without any shoes!

Set photographers captured the first look at Jones’ Danny Rand on set, looking significantly more hippie-dippy than Marvel fans are used to, but no doubt intended to showcase the time away from society the character has spent in training. Not to mention, if ever you worried about not feeling old enough, a first-generation iPod is now “retro.” Well, more than it was.

So reads the Iron Fist synopsis:

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Elsewhere, following the addition of Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing and David Wenham as Harold Meachum, recent breakdowns also suggested Iron Fist likely to begin casting the roles of Shang Chi and “Steel Serpent.” Scott Buck will showrun Iron Fist, while recent reports suggested Jessica Jones writer Scott Reynolds will also have a hand on the creative side.

For the moment, neither Marvel nor Netflix have publicly released a schedule for Iron Fist, The Defenders, or a second season of Jessica Jones, let alone any spinoffs. Stay tuned for the latest as it arrives.
