There are a lot of great stylus and app pairing options for illustrating on the iPad, but only one can teach you how to draw Iron Man's head. Yesterday Marvel launched its free Marvel Creativity Studio app, along with an optional accompanying sold-separately stylus. Part coloring book, part sketchbook, part tutorial, part animation software, and part sticker book, the Creativity Studio is meant to give young Marvel fans the tools to create content not unlike that of Avengers Assemble, Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.

At a glance the $35 stylus may seem like a bit of a novelty, but within the Marvel Creativity Studio app at least, it has a number of features that higher-end capacitive pens don't necessarily include. Clicking the pen's upper button lets users toggled between drawing tools, while a button closer to its tip lets users adjust line width on the fly. Shaking the stylus enables effects and flipping the stylus turns its upper capacitive button into an eraser instantly. The stylus is also supposed to connect to the iPad automatically, meaning this Mjolnir's worth of powers should be easy enough for burgeoning artists to summon.

Now, if only they'd release How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way on Kindle...
