Possessed with an unusually strong command of layout and a mastery of multiple illustration styles, former Daredevil artist Paolo Rivera’s work is a favorite of not just other artists but also to fans of design and drawing. The artist caters to both on his blog, which is frequently updated with fascinating process pieces that include his own reference photographs and helpful discussions of technique. We've excerpted several of these on ComicsAlliance before, but none as fun as these wedding invitations Rivera created to pay homage to his new wife April but also the great characters -- notably Tintin creator Hergé -- for whom the couple shares a great love.

As Rivera explains on his blog, his bride's lifelong fondness for Hergé informed the style of their save-the-date and invitation cards, particularly where we see Tintin himself officiating the wedding between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's Raphael (Rivera's childhood favorite) and April O'Neal (who shares a first name with Rivera's wife). Even the seating arrangements reflect the tastes of the happy couple, with Rivera's signature superhero, Daredevil, standing as Best Man and The Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen serving as Maid of Honor. Also on the bride's side are the Von Trap family from The Sound of Music, principals from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, some Pixar characters, an Ohm from Miyzakai's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and of course Hergé's Captain Haddock.

The groom's guests reflect Rivera's evidently more superhero/sci-fi leanings, with appearances by Aliens' Ellen Ripley, Captain America, the Tick and Arthur, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Thundercats, Han Solo with Princess Leia and Indiana Jones, RoboCop, the Terminator with the Connor family, Optimus Prime and last but not least, wedding photographer Spider-Man.

Obviously this is all thoroughly awesome and a truly fun tribute to a new family. Congratulations to Paolo and April from all your friends and fans at ComicsAlliance.
