‘Underwhelming Lovecraft’ Webcomic Turns Tales Of Horror Into Goofy Fun
Author H.P. Lovecraft's stories of ancient terror gods that drive people insane upon seeing them and cruel fate making life difficult for people aren't exactly laugh riots, but cartoonist Patrick Dean has managed to find some macabre humor in the horror writer's work.
His webcomic Underwhelming Lovecraft takes the titular author's classic tales and makes them into six-panel gag strips. There's also plenty of less-than-scary artistic depictions of Lovecraft's insanity-inducing creatures. It's a great stop for fans of monsters, espeically here in the early Halloween season.
So far, Dean has adapted three Lovecraft stories into comics, one every week starting Sept. 5. Here's hoping he keeps it up.
