2015 is truly the year James Spader took over all media.

Not only is the laconic actor portraying the title villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron, he's also making the jump from the screen to the page in Titan Comics' new comics series based on his TV show The Blacklist. The new series, by writer Nicole Phillips and artist Beni Lobel, will start up in July. Alice X. Zhang provides the covers.

The comic is being developed by the creative team behind the show, and according to editor David Leach, it'll focus on side stories. He promised "new dimensions of the characters that have captured the audiences worldwide" in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

I hope find out the origin of James Spader's hat.

Not only will Spader's Red Reddington be featured in the series, but Megan Boone's Elizabeth Keen, Diego Klattenhoff's Donald Ressler and other characters from the show will appear. Lobel has a pretty solid hand at drawing comics based on TV shows, with Vampire Diaries, Smallville and True Blood comics under his belt, so chances are the comics Spader will look like real Spader.

Titan revealed its plans for the series to retailers back in February at the ComicsPRO conference, which means that it's been in the works for a while. Maybe that would explain why an entire restaurant across the street from the convention hall at Comic-Con International in San Diego last year was plastered over with promotion for The Blacklist, a show that until now didn't have any connection to comics at all.

Either way, now us comics fans get to read all of our favorite catch phrases from the show  --- "I never tire of being correct," "Call my bluff," "I am James Spader" --- in print!
