Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be back earlier in 2017 than in prior years (we miss you, Agent Carter), but it looks like “Broken Promises” has the “LMD” arc in full swing by the first photos. See for yourself, as Aida wastes little time keeping things from Fitz and Dr. Radcliffe, while a new synopsis teases another mysterious Inhuman.

Now titling its January 10 return “Broken Promises,” Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. released its first official 2017 photos, featuring what looks to be a confrontation with Aida (Mallory Jensen). Not only that, but a new synopsis for the Season 4 return teases Coulson forming an attachment to May’s LMD replacement, and the credits list several more members of Parminder Nagra’s Nadeer family:

AGENT MAY’S DEADLY SECRET COULD DESTROY COULSON AND THE TEAM, ON ABC’S ‘MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.’

“Broken Promises” – Though Coulson and May are growing closer, Coulson remains unaware of the dark secret May is hiding beneath the surface. Meanwhile, Aida is unrelenting in her search for the Darkhold, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, JANUARY 10 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on the ABC Television Network.

Guest starring are Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, Jason O’Mara as Director Jeffrey Mace, Mallory Jansen as Aida, Parminder Nagra as Senator Nadeer, John Pyper-Ferguson as Terrence Shockley, Manish Dayal as Vijay Nadeer, Patrick Cavanaugh as Burrows, Blaise Miller as Agent Nathanson, Shari Vasseghi as Sunjna Nadeer and Bryan Keith as Zack Bynum.

There’s every chance Ghost Rider (and his predecessors) could also resurface in the back half of Season 4, while 2017 will also bring us news on ABC’s forthcoming Inhumans series, and a potential fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

You can catch the latest “Broken Promises” trailer for the 2017 return below, and stay tuned for more toward January 10.
