Brian Michael Bendis, Kelly Sue DeConnick and Lan Medina's Castle: Richard Castle's Deadly Storm will get some serious TV love on tonight's superhero-themed episode of the ABC's Castle series, titled "Heroes & Villains." Published by Marvel Comics, Richard Castle's Deadly Storm radiates mondo meta goodness in that it's an adaptation of a fictional character's first fictional novel. In the Castle TV show, mystery novelist Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) shadows NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) and helps her solve murders/almost fall in love with him every week. In "Heroes & Villains" the duo is tracking a costumed murder suspect and heads to a comic shop where the comic adaptation of Castle's first book just happens to be prominently displayed (and sold by a dude wearing the Avengers shirt Marvel gave out at Comic-Con). Do super heroes roam the streets of New York City? That's the question everyone's asking on an all-new episode of the hit series Castle, airing 10:01-11:00 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network, which also features an on-air appearance the hotly anticipated Castle: Richard Castle's Deadly Storm original graphic novel! When an ex-con is mysteriously slain in an alley, Castle and Beckett believe a vigilante is behind the murder. But efforts to identify their suspect are thwarted when they discover that he roams the city dressed as a super hero -- and may just be one! It's a race against time to stop this killer before he strikes again!

Looking through the stills, Marvel is getting its fair share of exposure in the episode. You can see a prominent Fear Itself banner, boxed statues, a Galactus action figure, posters and shelves upon shelves of comics. It looks like Vertigo is getting a little screen time too, although DC's "New 52" doesn't appear to make a cameo.

Marvel's Castle: Richard Castle's Deadly Storm arrives in stores Wednesday, September 28. Check out stills and video promoting tonight's episode of Castle, "Heroes and Villains," below:
