Marvel’s Royal Family is significantly expanding in volume. Just one day after ABC’s The Inhumans found a Black Bolt to complement Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Medusa is letting down her hair. The ABC-IMAX drama has found its Inhuman queen, as Serinda Swan joins the cast.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Swan’s Medusa is described as “Black Bolt’s most trusted advisor, a fiercely resilient warrior who has the ability to move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers.” Says Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb:

Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character. She is nothing short of wonderful.

Atop showrunner Scott Buck’s comments, which really zero in on that “regal” thing:

Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination, to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.

Thus far of Marvel’s The Inhumans, we know that Iron Fist alum Scott Buck will showrun the series for Marvel and ABC, which have already set a September IMAX premiere for its first two episodes. Roel Reine has signed on to direct the first two episodes as casting continues (not for Vin Diesel, who isn’t keen on the TV bit), though has Marvel not clarified what, if any relationship The Inhumans will have to other MCU TV series.

We’ll likely hear more Inhumans casting before long, but does Serinda Swan fit as Medusa?
