Marvel’s The Inhumans proved it was starting to get serious with the addition of Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon as Maximus, but there’s no more serious than the King himself. The ABC-IMAX drama has found its mute hero in Hell on Wheels alum Anson Mount, playing the famous Black Bolt.

Following the close of his AMC historical drama, Mount takes the role of the enigmatic Inhuman king; real name Blackagar Boltagon (seriously). The iconic Marvel character is famous for his inability to speak, lest the power of his voice destroy everything around him. Says Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb of the tricky casting:

Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently. His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.

And adds showrunner Scott Buck:

Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.

Thus far of Marvel’s The Inhumans, we know that Iron Fist alum Scott Buck will showrun the series for Marvel and ABC, which have already set a September IMAX premiere for its first two episodes. Roel Reine has signed on to direct the first two episodes, though few castings have been announced (certainly not for Vin Diesel, who isn’t keen on the TV bit), nor has Marvel clarified what, if any relationship The Inhumans will have to other MCU TV series.

We’ll likely hear more Inhumans casting before long, but does Anson Mount fit as Black Bolt?
