This month, comiXology -- the leading innovator of digital comics -- celebrates their one year anniversary by giving back to the fans who've helped them reach this milestone with three relatively humongous announcements.

First up is comiXology's 48-hour mega-sale -- kicking of on August 18-19 -- where fans looking to fill up their device's hard drive with digital offerings from DC Comics, Boom Studios and the Robert Kirkman library can do so at a 50% off discount.

Also on August 18, fans will also be able to download the debut ish of the sequel to comiXology's original series "BOX 13" titled, "BOX 13: The Pandora Process" by the Harvey-winning creative team of David Gallaher and Steve Ellis.

And finally, if you're sitting there thinking, "this is all well and good, but I don't have one of those fancy-schmancy iPad's I keep hearing about," then comiXology has you're hook up there as well, as every purchase made on the site will enter you for a chance to win your very own iPad.As comiXology CEO David Steinberger notes via press release, "Digital comics can look amazing on any device, PCs and Macs included, which is why we launched Comics by comiXology for the web. You don't need to have an iPad or iPhone to enjoy digital comics, but we thought we'd make at least one web user's day by giving them another brilliant way to experience digital comics."

...but yeah, reading comics is pretty nice on an iPad too.
