Deadpool Goes Back To The Super-Bad ’70s Where The Party Don’t Ever Stop In ‘Deadpool’ #13 [Preview]
Even though I've got a stack of 'em sitting next to me, I'll admit that I'm more than a little behind on the current run of Deadpool. As a result, I've been completely unaware that they've been doing flashback stories set in past eras of the Marvel Universe, until the moment I saw the preview for #13, in which Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, Scott Koblish and Val Staples reveal an untold tale of everyone's favorite mercenary mixing it up with Power Man, Iron Fist, and best of all, the Baseball Furies.
As someone who reads a lot of old comics, the premise alone for these things is cracking me up. The idea is that the creators can't hit their deadlines, so they're reviving the time-honored tradition of popping in an "inventory story" to meet demand and hoping these slightly dated stories will work with their modern audience. It's a hoot from before the first page, and it's well worth checking out. Catch up with the first few pages below, but keep in mind that pages 3 and 4 work best as a double-page spread:
Deadpool #13 is out this week from Marvel, and hopefully signals the trend of more overt Warriors references in comic books. I'm pretty sure the Turnbull ACs are about to show up in Hawkeye.
