Solo: dedicated counter-terrorist with teleportation powers. Solo: red-haired dude with a whole lot of guns. Solo: once a very minor Spider-Man character from the '80s. Solo: showing up in the wrong place at the wrong time, and trying to play it off like a cool guy.

Whoever you know Solo as, you've probably already heard that he's getting his own series written by Gerry Duggan and Geoffrey Thorne, with art by Paco Diaz. Check out a preview of issue #1 below.

Solo #1 seems pretty tongue-in-cheek from these preview pages, which shouldn't be too surprising since the book is spinning out of Deadpool and the Mercs for Money. Solo is clearly a character who takes himself very seriously, but here the focus is on him screwing up and finding a crate of toys where he was expecting weapons, and then realizing he's totally in the wrong place. I suppose that's a risk of long distance teleportation.

The idea of a Punisher-like character as the straight man in his own humor comic is kind of interesting, but we'll have to wait for the issue to come out on October 12 to find out if that's exactly what's going on.
