Aaron Diaz's gorgeous transhumanist webcomic Dresden Codak is in the midst of the wonderfully fun story arc "Dark Science," but I tend to prefer his single-serving comics, which often explore some grand idea in a visually stunning page -- and usually end on a mean joke at the expense of his genius heroine Kim. My favorite is "Lantern Season," in which Kim discovers that the dead entertain themselves by watching the forgotten memories of the living.

Recently, composer Matthew Dolmage created a video version of "Lantern Season," set to a melancholy soundtrack. Watch the video beneath the cut.
