Despite all the Defender talk of late, Marvel’s Netflix Iron Fist keeps right on rolling as the next major series to gear up for production. Now that we have our Harold Meachum as well, the time has come to meet Danny Rand’s childhood friends-turned professional rivals, as Jessica Stroup and Tom Pelphrey fill out the Meachum family.

Per Marvel’s announcement, Stroup will take the role of Harold Meachum (David Wenham)’s daughter Joy, sister to Tom Pelphrey’s Ward. The latter has typically been represented as Harold’s brother in the comics, while Marvel’s description of the cast-completing pair reads:

The children of Harold Meachum (David Wenham), Joy and Ward have spent their lives building Rand Enterprises to its current standing in the world, only to have all their work put in jeopardy when Danny returns to claim his birthright.

So reads the Iron Fist synopsis:

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Elsewhere, following the addition of Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, recent breakdowns also suggested Iron Fist likely to begin casting the roles of Shang Chi and “Steel Serpent.” Scott Buck will showrun Iron Fist, while recent reports suggested Jessica Jones writer Scott Reynolds will also have a hand on the creative side.

For the moment, neither Marvel nor Netflix have publicly released a schedule for Iron Fist, The Defenders, or a second season of Jessica Jones, let alone any spinoffs. Stay tuned for the latest as it arrives.
