Marvel And Audi Team For Interactive Iron Man Comic And Contest
Audi and Marvel have launched a crowd-sourced Iron Man 3 digital comic book that gives fans the chance to decide the fate of Tony Stark, Pepper Potts and, well, their Audi R8 after Blizzard attacks them on U.S. Highway 101. Called "Steer The Story," the interactive comic (set outside the IM3 movie continuity) supplies readers with a kind of "Choose Your Own Adventure" story by writer Jeff Parker, artist Manuel Garcia, inker Matt Ryan, colorist Anderson and letterer Joe Sabino. It's a narrative stocked with decision points, giving viewers the chance to vote on what happens next.
Initially users will have to choose from predetermined options, but the final scene serves as a kind of comic creation contest. Fans will be able to submit their own final frame using original art or photography, with Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso and editors Jeanine Schaefer and Bill Rosemann choosing a winner. The grand prize? The chance to win "an original art board signed by Marvel artists" and a trip to San Diego Comic-Con International for an art review by a Marvel editor. Sadly, an Audi R8 doesn't seem to be in the cards. A free trip to SDCC this close to the show is probably worth the car's full sticker price to a lot of fans, though.
